The Human Ken Doll has consistently hit the headlines thanks to his unrelenting plastic surgery addiction. Over the years, 33-year-old Rodrigo Alves has spent almost $500,000 dollars on his appearance, beginning with a rhinoplasty when he was just 18.
Now he is set to have his most dangerous procedure to date – the removal of FOUR ribs. Unlike singer Marilyn Manson, who was rumored to have had ribs removed so that he could perform fellatio on himself, Alves is having the procedure so that he can fit more seamlessly into his trademark blazers. It will involve having no less than four floating ribs removed by a Los Angeles surgeon.
The removal of floating ribs might sound extreme, but Alves has been left with no other option. He has had liposuction a staggering 20 times and was told by doctors that they would not perform the procedure again because it would be putting his health in danger.
Alves, however, claims that his decision isn’t entirely motivated by vanity. He has also begun to design his own blazers and hopes that the operation will help his career – assuming, of course, that he is the only person who models his designs. The 33-year-old had initially planned on having six ribs removed, but even doctors admitted that this was a step too far, so they compromised and agreed to remove four. The removal of six ribs could have potentially left Alves lungs exposed in his ribcage. He is featured below explaining why he is never going to stop getting plastic surgery:
“I am quite boxy around the waist area,” he said. “I like my fitted shirts and smart blazers and they will suit me much better when I have that classic slender figure. It’s going to make my waist tiny so I can wear elegant nice blazers.” “I have had friends that have done it before – it’s not a simple procedure but it can be done.” On Friday of last week, as he boarded his flight to LAX, he said, “The ribs are coming OUT.” He went on to reveal that his ribs would not be making their way into a bin of medical waste. Instead, the Human Ken Doll is going to make sure that they are appropriately cared for so that they can be used for future cosmetic procedures. “Once they’ve been removed they’ll be sent off to a cartilage bank,” he added.
Storing cartilage for future cosmetic procedures might sound as extreme as everything else in Alves’ life, however, it’s actually quite common in the world of plastic surgery. In fact, donated cartilage is often used on athletes to help repair sports injuries.
To date, Alves has had 59 cosmetic surgeries and over 100 cosmetic procedures. However, despite putting so much effort into his appearance, the Human Ken Doll was left red-faced after missing out one crucial outfit detail at this year’s Golden Globes ceremony. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry, the majority of stars opted to wear black to this year’s Golden Globes ceremony as a mark of solidarity with those who had been sexually harassed. This was publicised in many major media outlets, but Alves decided to wear white to the ceremony instead.
Taking to Instagram after the event, Alves wrote, “I was the only one wearing white at the #goldenglobes then I realized later that I forget to read the dress code memo.” Clearly, he had gotten a little too excited about receiving an invite to the prestigious ceremony in the first place.
The Human Ken Doll was keen to reiterate his embarrassment to the Mail Online, saying, “I truly missed the memo and it was embarrassing – most of the people were truly wearing black. I definitely stood out on the red carpet due to the fact.” However, he made a point of adding that he was in full support of the movement, “I don’t have to wear black in order to support a cause.”
There is no doubt that Alves will be quick to update the world on his physique once he’s had his ribs removed.
